Kimberly Whitley, Attorney, Hickory, NCKimberly Huffman Whitley, Partner of the Firm, concentrates her practice in Corporate Law, Trusts and Estates, and Elder Law. Ms. Whitley received her undergraduate degree (B. A., 1990) with Honors and Distinction and law degree (J. D., 1993) with High Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As an under-graduate, Kim was a John M. Morehead Scholar, National Merit Scholar and a Phi Beta Kappa member. During law school, she was a Staff Member of the North Carolina Law Review from 1991 - 1992 and Notes and Comments Editor from 1992 - 1993. Ms. Whitley was also a member of the Order of the Coif. Following law school she was a law clerk to The Honorable Judge Clyde H. Hamilton, Unites States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.


The Hickory, NC, native is a member of the Catawba County, North Carolina, and American Bar Associations. Ms. Whitley is also a former co-chair of the North Carolina Bar Association Education Committee as well as the former Secretary/Treasurer of the 25th Judicial District Bar Association. Kim was the Young Lawyers' Division Judicial District Representative of the Year for 2001-2002.

In the community, Ms. Whitley is the current Treasurer for the local chapter of the American Field Service and serves as the Legal Advisor to the Board of Directors of the Hickory Community Theatre. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Catawba Medical Foundation, the YMCA of Catawba Valley and the Planned Giving Council of Lenoir Rhyne University.  Additionally, Kim is a past member of the Board of the Catawba Valley Community Foundation, past member of the Board of Trustees of the Catawba County Historical Association and past vice president of the Adult Life Programs.   Ms. Whitley also is a past member of the Elder Law Section Council for the North Carolina Bar Association.

In 2009, Ms. Whitley was appointed by the Catawba County Commissioners to serve on the Aging Leadership Planning Team which will work to enhance Catawba County as a liveable senior friendly community.

Ms. Whitley and her husband, David, live in Hickory with their son, Colson.
