A graduate of Leadership Catawba, Class of 2011, Ms. Pope is active in the community as a member of the Board of Directors of Adult Life Programs, Inc., the corporate Board of Directors and Finance Committee of the YMCA of Catawba Valley, and the Ethics Committee of Frye Regional Medical Center. She is a contributing author for Sophie Woman’s Magazine and a frequent speaker for the Catawba Valley Community College Small Business Center and the Kauffman FastTrac New Venture Program, a national program for entrepreneurs and small business owners. Ms. Pope also participates in the pro bono program Wills for Heroes, providing wills and powers of attorney for local law enforcement and fire fighters. During law school, Ms. Pope was a North Carolina Bar-Certified Student Attorney in the UNC Community Development Clinic. She counseled nonprofit corporations and local governments on issues ranging from incorporation and federal tax exemption to facility licensure and Fifth Amendment takings. In addition, Ms. Pope mentored first year students as an Honors Writing Scholar and a three-time Teaching Assistant for the school’s research, reasoning, writing, and advocacy course. She also participated in Heels on the Street, a community service project sponsored by the School of Law. Ms. Pope earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business management with a finance concentration and a minor in accounting. As an undergraduate, she participated in the University Scholars Program and earned the award of Highest Ranking Scholar. Ms. Pope was also a member of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, Golden Key Honor Society, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Throughout undergrad and law school, Ms. Pope worked at Lincoln Financial Advisors/Sagemark Consulting in Raleigh, NC, as an assistant to two Certified Financial Planners providing comprehensive wealth management planning to high net worth individuals, business owners, and executives. A native of Granite Falls, Ms. Pope attended South Caldwell High School. She and her husband, Mitchell, live in Lenoir.
