Patrick Harper & Dixon, LLP traces its beginnings back to October 1946 when four prominent Hickory attorneys joined in partnership to create the law firm of Aiken, Patrick, Murphy & Harper. John W. Aiken, Bailey Patrick, Joseph L. Murphy and F. Gwyn Harper Jr., each had successful legal careers separately, but saw the great potential in combining their skills and expertise to found a new firm committed to providing quality client service for their community. However, less than three years after the firm's formation, John W. Aiken died followed by Joseph L. Murphy in 1950 leaving Mr. Patrick and Mr. Harper to continue the practice. Then, in 1952, they hired a new young lawyer, Charles D. Dixon, to work with them as the firm's first associate. Only four years later, Mr. Dixon became a partner and the firm was renamed Patrick Harper & Dixon. After representing numerous clients over the last 56 years, Mr. Dixon retired from the active practice of law in early 2009.
